Cambodia Gambling Halls
February 15th, 2016 at 14:21There is a captivating history to the Cambodia casinos that lie just over the border from next door Thailand, in which casino betting is banned. Eight gambling dens are anchored in a relatively tiny area in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia gambling dens is in a perfect spot, a 3 to 4 hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 most popular gaming centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a thriving business with Thai workers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The phenomenal income accrued from the gambling dens ranges from $7.5 million to more than 12.5 million dollars, and there are a number of controls requirements for casino ownership. Ownership is presumed to be largely Thai; still, financing sources are ambiguous. The borders are formally open from 09:00 to 5:00 p.m., and even though visas are supposedly necessary to cross, there are methods and means around this, as is accurate of most border crossings.
The original Cambodia gambling dens premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving only a single casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary barge gambling hall, features one hundred and fifty slot machine games and 60 gaming tables. The Naga river boat never closes with forty two tables of mini-punto banco, four tables of chemin de fer, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The 1st casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown soon opened. There are 150 one armed bandits and five tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machines and sixty eight tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features 300 slot machine games and seventy tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machines and 96 gaming tables, including eighty seven baccarat chemin de fer (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machine games and sixty six of the common tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the eight gambling halls in Poipet, also a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slots and 97 games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an all-around vacation and hotel complex that contains a number of conveniences on top of the gambling den, which houses 10,000 square feet of one hundred and thirty one armed bandits and 88 tables.
