Cambodia Gambling Halls
February 13th, 2010 at 16:21There is a fascinating background to the Cambodia gambling halls that sit just over the dividing line from nearby Thailand, in which gambling den betting is against the law. Eight gambling halls are situated in a relatively tiny area in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia gambling halls is in a perfect destination, a three to four hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 biggest betting centers in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a huge business with Thai laborers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The astonishing income acquired from the gambling halls ranges from $7.5 million to over 12.5 million, and there are a couple of restrictions constraints for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is assumed to be mainly Thai; although, financing sources are ambiguous. The borders are formally open from 09:00 to 5:00 p.m., and although visas are apparently required to cross, there are ways around this, as is real of many border crossings.
The 1st Cambodia gambling dens premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in 1998, leaving just one gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary ship gambling hall, highlights 150 one armed bandits and sixty tables. The Naga gambling den is open 24 hours with 42 tables of mini-punto banco, four tables of 21, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The first gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown soon followed. A total of 150 one armed bandits and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machine games and 68 tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features three hundred slot machine games and seventy tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and 96 table games, including eighty seven baccarat (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slots and sixty six of the common table games, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the eight casinos in Poipet, also a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machines and 97 games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a multinational vacation and hotel compound that contains numerous luxuries on top of the gambling den, which has 10,000 sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty slots and 88 tables.
